Community Impact Projects, Fall 2024 Season

Teams across the Mid State PA Council completed amazing Community Impact Projects (CIP) this season! The Community Impact Project encourages girls to use the skills they have learned throughout the season to address a community need. Teams brainstorm and decide together what issue or topic they want to help with and figure out how they can help. Completing the CIP provides teams with a strong feeling of accomplishment and empowerment, knowing that have positively impacted their own community!

Check out some of the Community Impact Projects completed by our girls across the three regions in Mid State PA!

W. W. Evans – W. W. Evans Care Closet

Per Libby Barnett, “The team collected donations of personal care items and food that they will be able to supply to W. W. Evans’ students and their families during a time of need. The closet includes things like deodorant, hairbrushes, Chapstick, soap, breakfast items, shelf stable milk, and dinner.  The team also received donations of socks, gloves, and hats for the upcoming winter months. While we can provide a lot during the day, the girls wanted to provide care outside of school as well.  All students will be able to shop the donations at any point that they need to. The girls have also planned where the closet will be placed and brainstormed ways so that students don't feel embarrassed by using it. They made cards to go inside shopping bags and meticulously organized the cabinet to make it an easy shopping process. We are very proud of our girls!

Linntown Intermediate:  Food Drive

The team created posters to advertise the food drive, created and read announcements about the food drive at school, made labels for the food collection boxes, and will assist with counting the donated items.  The food will be given to an organization that organizes extra food packs for all students in the school district.

Lewisburg YMCA: Donations for The Scratching Post Cat Café

The team wrote thank you cards for the cafe's volunteers and decorated a box and posters for donations that was housed at the Lewisburg YMCA.  They collected items such as cat food, cat litter, and cleaning supplies.  The team presented the items and cards to the cafe's volunteers during their Final Celebration which was held at the Scratching Post.

Mountain View Elementary: Positive Messages at School Library

The team chose to design bookmarks with positive things they learned at GOTR and hide them randomly in school library books.  Students who happen to check out those books will get a nice surprise!
